I'm not a big fan of that cover and i find it weird that they chose this one to be Vol 2 cover. I think there are many much more beautifull covers to use. I really hope they change it.

I actually like the cover. I think it looks beautiful. The only problem I have with them using that is because it's a photo cover and not an artistic cover.

While I also prefer a drawing to a photo cover, I think that this cover is probably the best photo cover to use if they are using one. It has the clouds, which I assume represent Up There, which is a major part of this story line.

This was a great issue over all. I found it kinda confusing at first, as the flow of the narration and imagery implied different things at the same time, having gone over it a few times I understand it much better. There are some great surprises and additions to the Charmedverse which are brilliant. I'm really looking forward to the next issue!
The only thing that let this issue down for me is the art, which isn't as crisp as previous ones, (however, the last panel is great ;P) -

As much as I love the idea of a Piper oneshot, my hopes aren't incredibly high just yet. I'm hoping the 'misguided spell' is something original becuase we've seen this kinda storyline before (Many times with Wyatt and with Melinda in 'Charmed Lives') I'll keep an open mind, just hope it's something new.

CharmedComicFan is 1 year old
Last year on May 23,2010 i started updating CharmedComicFan. I opened it days before Charmed #0 was out because of all the previews, rumours and news that were surfacing on the internet. So i thought of making a fansite in order to gather them all in one place for all the fans and make a new charmed fan community! I still remember the first time i found an article that said charmed comics were to be made. I was soo excited and i am thankfull the comic is great and i am still as excited! Lets hope they keep coming for much much longer!

The artists, and Paul himself, might have been inspired by this Dark One, but I doubt they're the same. The GFT world is nothing like the Charmedverse. It's about fairy tales with a very dark twist and would never fit with the versions we saw of Charmed's fairy tales. Still, well spotted.

Looks like it's a good thing I didn't come on earlier. I suspect I know what was said, because I like to tempt fate and look at things that are spoilerish and try to not actually read them and didn't quite succeed yesterday. Same thing happened with issue #7, accidentally read a spoiler . . . and actually issue #8 . . . hmm. Maybe I should quit doing this.
Anyway, I will be trying to see if there are any copies left at my local book store (not my comic store) tomorrow. If there are, then I won't have to worry about spoilers. I don't mind about reading pages, as long as they are in order. It's like reading it in pieces. -

Zenescope promises 4 Issues over the course of just 6 weeks
After people complained when the delay news were posted, Zenescope wrote in facebook:
- "Really sorry guys! it's been printed and we have the books at our warehouse as well but there was some sort of delay in shipping. Issue 10 DID go to print and 11 goes to print next week! Sorry for the delays but you will be seeing 4 issues (9 through 12) all coming at you over the course of just 6 weeks."
I'm sure this is a promise they will keep!

@PorterHalliwell - Awesome! As it was supposed to come out this week and I know some got sent to my area, this doesn't surprise me. You're one of the lucky ones. I'm hoping that I get a copy this weekend (if any of the subscribers at the store that did get them didn't pick them up they become available).
@CharmedComicFan - So will you put yesterday as the release date since PorterHalliwell got it, proving that copies are out there? Or does it have to come from a store to count for you?
@Megawhatz123 - I'm with you 100% (well, other than the spoiler part, though I hope he does, I don't plan to be spoiled). I think that number is astounding and I will believe it when I have issue #12 in my hands July 6th if that happens. -

My first thought was that maybe this title has to do with Piper's restaurant but who knows.

I hope it's not too focused on the restaurant opening and there is still some kind of demonic presence involved. One thing I've missed in the comics is the girls actually fighting demons, something there hasn't really been that much of.

I feel the need to point out that TFAW credited two people on twitter about the change (neither of which was Zenescope, though those two did get the info from Zenescope's tweet) and that some copies have made it to stores, so it is possible that there might be copies available in your area, at least for people in the US. Also, this may or may not actually affect people in other countries, especially if they get comics direct from Zenescope.

OMG what is Zenscopes problem?
I live in London and on my way back i made a special journey to go and get the comic and for the third time it wasn't there!!!!!!!! And then the tubes failed and i ended up stranded for three hours because of it!!!!!
What is Zenescope's problem???????
If i were them i would just lie and tell everyone the comic would be out on a date way after it is predicted, i would prefer to read on this site that the comic is out eriler than expected than go in store and be disappointed. -

I got up early drove 25minutes to the comic book store just for them to tell me that it was not there and when they checked to see when issue #9 is going to come out they said the end of June and Zenescope is saying next week I'll believe it when I see it.

Charmed #13 cover
I know all of you were waiting this cover for so long so here it is, David Seidman's cover for issue #13. It features Piper and Melinda. I appreciate this cover very much cause it is different from we have seen so far and also promises we will see more and more from the personal lives of the sisters.
Perhaps this issue will introduce us to the sister's lives after the battle with Neena (if it ends in #12) and how they will try to balance things again (magic,kids,job,marriage)
What Piper carries in the cover may hint that, as we probably see all her life in a pile. Her witch aspect through the BOS, scrying crystal and potions, her housewife aspect - married with children (wedding photo, toys, Melinda, ironing, washing, cooking) and her job-restaurant (food, cooking ingrediants and other cooking stuff)
Poor Piper!
Now what's left is for the summary to be revealed. Who knows, this may be a Piper one-shot. We have to wait and see.

I honestly love it, save her face which he just photoshopped in there. The concept is quite artistic and executed marvellously (again, save the face). I suppose her hair needs to be a bit darker, but still, really loving it. It would be awesome if he made posters/prints of a similar style for Phoebe and Paige too.

Wow, that IS different! Although the face is a tad off, I think I love it...
It's such a stark contrast to the covers of the first 12 issues. I think it really symbolises that issue 12 is an end of an era, per se, and that #13 starts afresh.
The cover reminds me of "Bewitched" for some reason :P probably because it suggests Piper struggling with being a mother, a wife and a witch. I'm glad that it's going to deal with some personal issues =D -

I agree with Sarah, the twins and P.J needs more attention. The already devoted and entire issue to Melinda and now "This" (we'll know melinda will be prominent in this issue). While all we get about P.J is that she can beam and that the Twin's don't have any powers. We need more focus on the other sister's on their kids.

If this is a Piper centric issue, then I hope it has at least a couple of pages devoted to Piper's boys (since they've had about as much "air time" as Kat and Tam and less than PJ . . . and a lot less than Melinda). However, I would prefer a Paige centric issue, because I am very curious to learn more about her kids and maybe even more about her past, something Charmed rarely dealt with.

Good for them making the correction about issue #8 being colored by John Hunt. I'm sad to see that there isn't any limited cover, but I guess with all the changing dates, I shouldn't be surprised. You can't have a limited cover that goes with a specific comic con if you don't come out at the time of that comic con.

@David - I'm with you on that. I'm very glad that they sent the previews to Kostas (and it is awesome cool that we've got a temporary exclusive), but I'm not sure of what I think of the art work. I too will reserve judgement until I actually see the issue. I'm also very curious as to how he draws Piper, since we don't get to see his Piper in the previews. Of those we do get to see, I like his Paige best.
I do love that the Book of Shadows makes an appearance. -

@ZmaX - Mine doesn't even have a date when they will have it. I called another store in town. They have it, but they only have enough for people with subscriptions and since mine is with a different store. They did tell me that if copies aren't picked up after three days, they put the copies out on the floor for anyone to buy. Since they usually have extras for sale months later, I'm hoping there will be one or two copies for sale in three days. Meanwhile, I'm going to look and hope I find something sooner. I want this issue ASAP.

According to what Paul twitted he is now working on Issue #14.
Zenescope has informed us that they want to continue Charmed after issue #13 even if plans have not been made yet so knowing that Paul now works on #14 makes me more sure it will.
By the way, according to Raven Gregory Charmed issue 10 went to the printers on Thursday.

It JUST went to the printers?!? I remember when they did the first few we were told (by Raven Gregory I think) that it usually came out two weeks after going to the printers. I'm not sure if that's because of actual need for that, or just because of the scheduling at the time, but that actually worries me.
That's why I called my comic store today and asked them. I talked to one of the owners and he told me that it is not on their list of comics coming in this week and that the list they have is complete. He also told me that it usually takes three to four weeks from printing before it gets to them. I'm going to stick with the two week that I previously heard, but I'm not at all surprised by this news. So sorry guys, issue #9 will not be coming out on Wednesday . . . at least not for me. If by some off chance you get it early, that's awesome, but it will be at least another week for me, probably two.
As to fourteen, once we got that message from Zenescope about the sales for volume #1, I stopped being worried about there being an issue #14. They have time to get to work on it still and I'm glad to hear that Paul is working on it. . . thanks @accacipi for the tweet that prompted him to let us know that.
Finally, I am excited that we should be getting some news this week in the form of the info on issue #13. Can't wait to see that. -

I think I'll be able to get #9 this week. I bet it can't be easy for comic book shops to keep track of comics where they are constantly being delayed. I know delays do happen, but I've been reading comics for a while now and Charmed is one of the most delayed. But I am hopeful I'll be able to get it on Wednesday or Thursday, my shop is good with getting them out after a delay.

Unfortunately Issue #9 will not be out tomorrow but next week on Wednesday May 18, 2011.
The previews are still being prepared so i can't say when we will have them for now.
There are also new tentative dates for the rest of the issues:
Issue 10: June 8th
Issue 11: June 15th
Issue 12: June 29th
I guess these dates also push back Volume 2

keeping the rest of the issues & releasing them throughout the summer is a better idea than releasing them all in June. They're gonna go on a hiatus, so it'll be better if they release an issue a month to stay consistent and it'll buy them some time.

Duh they are doing it bcuz they can't find artists for the next few comics and probably are trying to come up with better stories for the final few issues. They are stalling to buy time to come up with ideas that aren't repetitive like the past few have.

It's a rule, a life-style, of theirs, not following through with deadlines and release dates: Most of their titles have known delays according to my colleague -- and I work in a comic-book store. So it's got nothing to do with Charmed ending or not.

The artist for Issue #12 will be Dean Kotz, the same artist that worked on Issue #9 (will be out next week). So next week's Issue will be an important indicator on how #12 will look like.
Hmm considering that, i wonder if Dean, Reno and Tess will be taking turns on the issues. Dean on Issue #9 then Reno on Issue #10 and Tess on #11 then again Dean on #12 and Reno on #13. Maybe this will continue after issue 13.

Charmed #13 artist + Charmed #9 previews coming REALLY soon
As for the covers of Charmed #13. David Seidman is working on Charmed 13 cover A as we already know and die to finally see, but he will be working on cover B too (probably a photo cover). There will also be a cover C (not a photo cover) for which an artist has not been decided yet (May i suggest Greg Horn??).
As for the more exciting news, the interior artist for Issue #13 will be Reno Maniquis. It seems he will both make issue 10 and 13. We all loved his try-out pages and i wonder if he will now be in the main team.
By the way Issue #10 is fully completed (lettered too).
According to Zenescope, they are now preparing the previews for Issue #9 and we will have them soon!
I really hope the next post will be the previews for #9.

Charmed #8 trivia
These are some fun trivia for issue #8. Thought i share them with you. Some of them are submitted by people in the Charmed wiki.
- A picture of the triquetra can be seen on Paige's cell phone. It is either her wallpaper or the Caller ID photo for the Manor.
- "Oh, Henry" is also the name of a chocolate bar.
- It is the second time that Paige witnesses Kyle’s death.
- While attacking the Elders on the Golden Gate Bridge, Neena says "Fly my Pretties" which could be a reference to "The Wizard of Oz"
- In this issue, Piper says that they'll have to distract that "big scary demon". This is identical to what she says in the season 4 episode, "Hell Hath No Fury", where she referred to the Kevmay in the same way.
- Piper tells Paige to see the news in Channel 8. KCSF Channel 8 is a local television channel in San Francisco that was previously seen in the episodes "Sin Francisco" and "All Hell Breaks Loose" (When the Girls vanquished Shax outside, Channel 8 were reporting citizens about the weather and accidentally moved the camera to them exposing their magic)
- The Grandfather clock can be seen in the last panel.

Charmed tryout pages from Issue #10 artist.
These are definately not previews for an upcoming issue but we sure get to see the style and likeness of the artist that works on issue 10.
This is what the artist (probably Reno Maniquis) commented on these sketches:
- I’m the artist for issue 10 of Zenescope’s Charmed comic (tentatively out on 05/25/11). I got the job by submitting the four tryout pages you see below, working from the script for Charmed #8… I’ll post some preview pages for issue 10 when I am able.
The sketches are from the scene of issue #8 where Paige orbs the baby out of the dead woman's womb. I have to say that i love the likeness of these sketches! Especially Paige and Piper.

I don't think Marcio captured Phoebe/Alyssa very well. In Issue 7 she looked more like her alias Julie than Phoebe.
I adore his Paige though - the best rendition so far, and his Piper is very good too. To be fair, I think all of the artists so far have done really well with Piper.
I love Tess though. Her Phoebe was spot on, and her Piper and Paige were very good too. -

Charmed #7 is ranked 261 in the top 300 comics of March selling 6160 issues.
Charmed #8 is very near, ranked 265 selling 6046 issues.
Charmed #6 was ranked 210 in February selling 7014 issues so March sales may not be the best yet but i am sure this is possibly because 2 issues were out in the same month and they will definately rise again.

News about a former guest star on Charmed - Norman Reedus who portrayed Nate Parks, Paige's love interest who turned out to be married is going to be appearing as Judas in GaGa's new video 'Judas'. Joe Brusha on Charmed - Volume #1 is Zenescope's best-selling trade paperback
Joe Brusha, president of Zenescope talked about Charmed in Megacon:
- Outside of the Grimm universe, Zenescope has also been publishing a book based on the Charmed television show. The book is written by published author, Paul Ruditis, and Brusha said the series has been their best-selling trade paperback. The first printing (a 15,000 unit run) is almost completely sold out. Brusha said that Charmed fans are very passionate, and they have responded positively to the book, and Zenescope is very excited about it. It is bringing new people into comics, which is always one of the company's goals - to bring as many non-comic readers to the medium. Unfortunately none of the ones the people from Zenescope are going to are anywhere near my home. Maybe if I were able to get together more money. -

For me, it was definitely Buffy Season Eight that got me into comics. But I'm positive that this Charmed series would have gotten me into comics too. I also followed other TV series-related comics like Angel and Ghost Whisperer. But now I'm into original comics like Fallen Angel, Runaways, and Y: The Last Man.

-An adventure of the 1920s cousins.
-Hell, maybe a story of when it was just Prue, Piper, and Phoebe. In "Chick Flick", Phoebe mentions the girls fighting a Bunyip that was never shown on the show before. Also, Piper mentions in "Show Ghouls" that they vanquished Sargon sometime during season 2.
-Maybe a spin off on a completely different witch with no relations to the Charmed Ones. It would be interesting to see how other witches vanquish powerful demons without the Power of Three. -

@GlennVP - I'm with you on that. I would love it if they would have one (or two) covers just for the volumes, something that would be an additional extra for people who bought the volumes. And since each volume is apparently an entire story arc (plus loose issues if there are loose issues, such as issue #0 in volume #1 and issue #6 in volume #2), they could come up with a cover that showed something of the entire story arc, bringing in elements from more than one issue into the cover.
Oh, well. At least they altered the volume #1 cover so it was identical to the issue #1 cover. But they lost out on at least one more sale (probably more) by not having multiple covers for it, 'cause I would have bought additional covers.
Of the photo covers for the issues in this story arc, this is probably the best one to use. It has all three sisters (#6, #11, and #12 don't). The only other photo cover that we know has all three sisters is issue #8 (since #7 is artist drawn and we have yet to see the second cover for issue #10). Comparing issue #8 and #9's photo covers, issue #8 may be pretty, but this one has some extras, like clouds and Serena's spell, so I guess if we are going to have a photo cover, this is the one I would prefer. -

i do pretty much the exact same thing, local vhosts and all. taking nightly backups of /home is easy with rsync, so when anything goes awry, i just pull down the folder from my vps. since the cronjob itself is in the folder, even my backup script gets backed up. what ide do you use?
