alexi is back but as a ghost because rennek killed her!

Don't you think Alexi is a bit "older" than the last time? But I prefer her this way! I like the likeness of all four sisters (Phoebe is very pretty with this hair even though she is not very similar
to Alyssa... maybe she is better on the other pages). I don't really like the colors ... in the page with Prue and Piper the sky is too "fake".

I figured Cole would refer them to Alexi for answers.

Yes alexi seems older than the last time... also i don't like pipers ''orange'' hair.

a synopsis plz?

JoshingAbout(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:13)
Detailed summary of the issue. MAJOR spoilers ahead.
*The issue starts with the preview pages
* Piper tells Prue that if she's thinking of leaving again that she might just blow her up. The crossbow she's using was made by Glynnis and it's been made so Prue can control it with her mind. Some
more sisterly talk about Prue's absense and a GREAT likeness of Holly's smile. Piper has Prue practice her ability to control the Crossbow.
* FLASHBACK. Leo is sitting on the bonnet of a car with a dead girl in the driver's seat - an arrow sticking out of her heart. He's mourning over the death of his first charge, and Rennek, casually
sat there, taunts him about it.
* FLASHBACK. The most un-Leo likeness in the entire series leans over another dead charge. Rennek to try to get Leo to fight back, but Leo remains pacifistic.
** Interesting note: Rennek calls Leo "brother" - I'm not sure if this implies a biological bond between the two or spiritual one, since they're opposing forces.
* FLASHBACK. Leo protects a couple from an oncoming Darklighter arrow (somehow), and the most un-Rennek likeness (seriously he looks like 30 years older than usual) continues to taunt Leo into
retaliating, but Leo is steadfast about being a pacifist.
* FLASHBACK. Leo stumbles upon Rennek manipulating dead bodies into performing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance. Rennek said he couldn't get any real Zombies but these bodies will have to do. Leo
says he's insane - Rennek likes to think he's bored. He says what he's doing isn't that bad since the people's spirits have already moved on - he just dug them up.
* Once again Rennek goads Leo into conflict, but Leo avoids fighting
* FLASHBACK. Leo appears as Rennek is killing a bunch of people. Leo tries to heal them but to no avail. Rennek says he gave Leo the chance to be a worthy adversary but now he's done with it all.
He's tired of Leo and finally attacks him. Leo retaliates and defeats Rennek. (A good 1/4 of the page is unused which is highly disappointing).
* FLASHBACK. Gideon (the cameo from behind) is talking to Leo about his new charges (you can see The Manor in the background) and how since Rennek is gone Gideon thinks he'll be ready to take on
these difficult charges.
* From the bushes it turns out that Rennek faked his death at the hands of Leo, hoping that Good will leave him alone. A voice says it will - Alexi is behind him. She says she's someone he'll
befriend and then betray, but not for a long time.
Rennek doesn't care: he says he's done playing the Bad Boy and that he's earned his keep, but Alexi says evil won't let him go so easily. Rennek says he isn't a fan of Destiny (grammatical error in
the dialogue on this page).
* FLASHBACK. Leo chained up in Rennek's dungeon with that creepy demon person with sowed up lips. Rennek says he's spent years researching the final piece of the puzzle: and it's locked up in Leo's
subconscious in the collected knowledge of the Elders and the Avatars.
* The demon scours Leo's mind. Apparently before the Source's power was split the world's Magic was in balance. Prue reuniting with her sisters also caused the imbalance to become more chaotic.
* To "End the Battle", Rennek had to use a powerful artefact of his side, Evil, to control a relic of the enemy at the convergence point of the dimensions. So he had to use the Grimoire to overpower
the Empyreal Sword.

JoshingAbout(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:13)
Back to the regular Timeline:
* Piper and Prue playfully practice some more, with Prue noting that Piper is holding herself back. Piper lets loose and as Prue fires a bolt she freezes it, freezing Prue too but making sure her
head remained unfrozen, much to Prue's annoyance.
* Leo, Phoebe and Paige return from Alexi's cave to tell Prue and Piper everything about what Rennek has done. (I'm assuming Alexi showed them in her mirror, hence the flashbacks).
* Leo explains that Earth is the middle ground that links Up There and the Underworld with the magic that flows through the dimensions, hence why Demons want to rule it so much, saying that if they
control the Earth they can control the convergence point: aka The All.
* The Elders protect the Earth to maintain equilibrium, but recent events, the Source's power split and Prue's return have thrown off the balance of magic.
* Rennek used the magical imbalance of the world, along with the Grimoire and the Empyreal Sword to divide the dimensions, pretty much ending the fight between Good and Evil. The Elders remain Up
There and the demons are trapped in the Underworld - and the Earth is alone with the All. While ending the fight between Good and Evil the world became totally messed up as it is today.
* Piper asks how he did it. Leo explains that he took control of the convergence point of the dimensions - where magic was the greatest before the creation of the Higher Realm ... the Nexus of the
All.
* Inside a military vehicle, Phoebe asks why demons bother coming after The Charmed Ones if they want to rule the All - very few people knew of its location, one of them being Neena, and he
unknowingly gained that knowledge as an Elder or Avatar.
* Darryl is trying to find the Nexus' location, but can't seem to find anything even with a magically enchanted satellite. The girls use their Charmed magic to empower the satellite with the ability
to see the cloaked Nexus. What they see amazes them.
* Elise and Tyler are ready to help, with Tyler saying he's not running away again like he was forced to with The Source. The kids are safe with Victor and Henry, Coop and Darryl are in position,
waiting for The Charmed Ones. Paige orbs Phoebe and Piper away.
* Glynnis offers Leo a temporary replacement for the Empyreal Sword that can cut through steal, and Glynnis herself can't wait to see her ancestor's inventions in action.
* Prue hates that her reappearence had a part to play in Rennek's plan, but Paige reappears to say that Prue can help put an end to it. Paige, Leo and Prue orb away.
* They're in the middle of a desert with a HUGE dome forcefield covering a massive area. Phoebe says she's never felt power like it - in fact it's empowering her Levitation to the point where she can
fly. Suddenly, Phoebe sees something coming out from the dome ... A bunch of weapon-clad Amazonion-looking people fly out of the dome. Trouble looks to be ahead ...
TO BE CONTINUED.

Oh my God!! This issue is amazing and epic! I love the story!!! All season 9 is linked!!! The Source, Prue's return, The All, everything that happened during this season has took us in this point!
The art is perfect!! the only thing that bored me is how powers are showed. But i think that this problem is because of the colorist!
@JoshingAbout: Do you think that people are teleporting them selves to The Nexus of the All on page 18, when the sisters are at Knox Academy? Because there are a lot of multicolour lights XD
#10
Excalibur90(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:52)
I can't wait to read it! Also what powers are used in this issue???
#11
JoshingAbout(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:59)
@Henry - ha, I never realised that. Yeah I think they must be teleporting to the All's Nexus location.
I agree the way the powers were drawn was very, very boring. Issues 4,5 and 7 had my favourite Orbing effects. No issues since then have satisfied me on the Orbing department. I'm not sure if it's
down to the colourist or the interior artist, but it could do with some improvement.
3 weeks for Issue 24! :D So excited!

Henry(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 10:00)
Alexi uses her mirror to show the flashbacks.
Prue uses a magic crossbow.
Piper blows up and freezes magic arrows, while she's training with Prue, and she freezes Prue along with them.
Leo (in a flasback) uses telekinesis (i think) to throw away one of Rennek's arrow, he orbs and uses healing touch (i think again)to try to save an innocent and to beat Rennek for good (or at least
he thought so).
Rennek (in a flashback) uses death touch (the same one used by that darklighter in season 1) to kill some innocents.
The creepy demon seen in issue 18 uses (in a flashback) a power to read and control Leo's mind.
In Knox Academy, sisters' allies use their power to teleporting them selves to The Nexus of the All.
Paige orbs.
Pboebe levites and flies (thanks to Nexus' power)
A lot of bad guys come out of the Nexus.

I KNEW that's basically what was going to happen (with the all being involved/switching to humans etc.) it was the only route Paul could go with the introduction of the all and I'm happy he did
because it felt very organic and made sense! I just hope in the next issue they end with prue closing the door
#14
P4fan4ever(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 11:19)
I also couldn't really tell what powers Rennek/Leo were using in the final flashbacks also I think those warriors in the end were Valkyries ... Like stated above I think Rennek was using death
touch... But how did Leo kill him (same question from a previous issue when we see those rays shooting from his hand)... Also I'm assuming that Rennek wasn't totally evil (he's doing this because he
doesn't want the fight to continue anymore)
#15
Henry(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 11:23)
Perhaps the love that is the basis of healing touch is lethal to Darklighter. Their powers are based on hatred ... might make sense.

JoshingAbout(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 12:07)
This issue actually made me sympathise with Rennek. He, like Neena, isn't a cardboard cutout villain. Rennek is tired of being the bad guy. He just wants to live without the eternal "us and them"
battle of Good and Evil. The only reason he taunted Leo all those years was because that was his role as the bad guy. Like Neena he's taking control of his destiny and his life.
Ruditis, I love you. Please continue to write Charmed up to Season Infinity. kthnxbai.

Excalibur90(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 12:16)
I didn't like very much that paul made Neena and Rennek look like "good" persons... :P
#20
JoshingAbout(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 12:24)
Neena slaughtered anyone who got in her way and came close to killing her own kin. Rennek helped and we've seen him kill about a dozen people. These are not 'good' people at all :P They are 3
Dimensional and not just evil for the lolz. Their motives are for themselves. Neena and Rennek are definitely up there with Zankou on my list of "Best Charmed Villains".

Piper freze prue because prue now i a mortal and not a witch
#22
Henry(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 13:08)
I love Neena and Rennek because they are complex characters. They are different from the usual demons that attack to kill the sisters or to take their powers. They work for a reason! And they are
very bad ... But I wanted to see more blood!! We have not seen any murder committed by Hogan (except for Brent) and Rennek's victims were "censored" ... No blood ... No creepy scene (Well the remake
of Thriller's scene was creepy, but it could be better). Maybe I'm weird but I'd like to see something darker, like in the first 4 seasons. And this issue could be!!
#23
p2(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 13:23)
I read a comment of JoshingAbout saying that Prue can control with her mind the crossbow i am so happy its like telekinesis!!!!!!!!!!
#24
Henry(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 13:34)
It's not a new power! She just used the crossbow's power... Glynnis' weapons are magic now!
I don't think that Prue is mortal, still has magic inside her differently she couldn't use a magical weapon with or without her mind. I think its an ability like brewing potions. Humans cannot brew
potions and wield magical weapons.
Yes i agree that they are complex characters but i felt sorry for Neena. and now with rennek the same! I know that they have motives but i would prefer to change him to more bad guy who wants to rule
the word. this is m opinion :)
#29
p2(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 16:11)
@excalibur90
idont agree with uou because if you see the cover of issue 24 you will see henry and daryl o holdĪ magical weapons Henry and Daryl are mortal so????
#30
JoshingAbout(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 16:30)
Well, technically they're magical now because of the shift in Magic because of The All going haywire.
However, I think that Prue is a bit of an enigma much like how Leo was. He could open the big doorway Up There and wield the Empyreal Sword despite not being a Whitelighter anymore. I think because
of Prue's back-and-forth with Magic that she too isn't truly powerless despite the fact she stripped her magic, like how Leo was stripped of his but he still has a connection to Magic.
#31
excalibur90(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 16:31)
You have a point but prue was a charmed one i dont think that its too easy to lost her magic.
#32
joshingAbout(Wednesday, 05 September 2012 17:22)
In issue 18 Prue drank a Power Stripping potion. This potion doesn't bind your magic, it removes it entirely, hence why the imbalance of power brought by Prue's arrival was fixed as the Power of
Three was normalised. She no longer had powers and was separated from the Power of Three. However, much like when Cole had his powers stripped there was a void left behind.
When Rennek switched the magic of the world around, the Power of Three went into her entirely because she is the closest link to them and because of the aforementioned void in her. However, the Power
of Three was not meant to manifest into one person, so using the Power of Three actually began to take a toll on Prue. She realised that if she overused the Power of Three it would eventually be too
much for her, kill her and return itself to her sisters.
After she dies again and is pushed back into life by Cole and the other Magical Dead, Prue is once again powerless as the Power of Three is rightfully back with her sisters.
Glynnis makes a magical weapon that is linked with Prue's mind. I have a feeling that it was Glynnis who made that possible, not Prue. So yeah, Prue is powerless but is able to use a magical weapon
thanks to someone else's magic. That's my thoughts on it anyway.
I think a regular mortal wouldn't be able to control a magical weapon even with Glynnis' help - Magic works in mysterious ways ...
#33
Henry(Thursday, 06 September 2012 06:50)
What do you think about Alexi? Before she helps Rennek and then she tries to stop him. Why?
#34
JoshingAbout(Thursday, 06 September 2012 07:23)
Yeah I'm not really understanding that either.
So, she meets Rennek way back before S1, tells him that he'll befriend and betray her. Then skip forward 10 years, she helps Cole find Prue as Patience in Salem, only to help Rennek force Paige to
meet Prue with the Jewel of Orthonn (via mind-controlling Bailey), thus breaking down the balance of magic with the Power of 4. Then she's killed by Rennek and then helps the Charmed Ones undo
Rennek's plan ... which she helped him fulfil?
Wouldn't it have been easier to simply not help him in the first place? I'm not sure what Ruditis was thinking with this.
#35
Henry(Thursday, 06 September 2012 07:26)
It's exactly what I was thinking! I hope we have not finished with her!
#36
Excalibur90(Thursday, 06 September 2012 07:38)
@JoshingAbout i agree with you! i was reffering to P2user about prue and the other mortals. Im know that Prue doesn't have her powers but i dont think that she lost her magic.
#37
p2(Thursday, 06 September 2012 12:21)
@Excaibur90 yes i agree with you but i believe that she freeze because she isnt a charmed ones now only a witch!!
#38
Henry(Thursday, 06 September 2012 17:50)
Good witches can't be frozen... Not only the Charmed One, but ALL good witches... Do you remember Aviva? So if Piper can freeze Prue, she isn't a witch! I think Prue/Patience is a mortal now... Like
JoshingAbout said, she was stripped of all her magic. But who knows, there are always Patience's abilities...
#39
accacipi(Friday, 07 September 2012 06:04)
@JoshingAbout Thank you for the summary.
I'm confused. Is the All's magic concentrated in the Higher Realm, the Nexus or both? And the Higher Realm, the Upper Regions, the Underworld and our universe are different dimensions?
I agree about Rennek's character development.
The people at the end sound like Valkyries, but those can't fly, can they?
#40
Dori(Friday, 07 September 2012 14:33)
Actually magical witches cannot be frozen, but witch practioners can, like that witch that was annoying piper and pheobe in season 2, when we first meet Bane and Barbas tries again to kill 13
unmarried witches.
Prue isn't magical, she could just be a practioner.
#41
Henry(Friday, 07 September 2012 17:17)
Yes, of course. But in issue 9 it's said that witch practitioners are born in that way... I don't know if a magical witch becomes a practitioner, when she is stripped of her power. But it would be
cool to see what exactly a witch practitioner can do!

@accacipi I wondered that myself... the underworld as stated by the source book (issue 0) is a realm beneath the earth... we also saw neena and hogan actually traveling down into it... so id say its
safe to say that the underworld is here in the physical plane with use... in season3 magic hour it's stated that because of the eclipse the elders couldn't look down onto earth just like we couldnt
look up meaning the upper regions have to be higher or above earth/ the sun- plus if the elders view earth and all its happenings from the upper regions id assume that it's on a higher plane of
existence - one where elders/angels live and that connects to the afterlife as seen in the comics- its not simply a realm in the sky- its on a whole nother plane that allows the elders to view us!- i
have a whole essay written on the many planes/realms in charmed- ill post it soon!
#45
p4fan4ever(Friday, 07 September 2012 23:01)
i also think that THE ALL is what allows witches to USE powers, but is not their actual powers- those are given by the elders.... think of the all as the battery power to activate the power- leo said
that some mortals are born with enough of the all to channel into an active power- by that i think he means channel it to activate/control a power
if the inherent pieces of the all were the powers themselves then when the elders took phoebes powers away in season 6 she wouldnt have been able to cast spells of make potions- but that wasnt the
case- she still maintained that ability, just her active powers were stripped, meaning an active power has to be separate from the part of a witch that allows her to cast spells make potions, aka an
active power must be separate from that witches portion of the all...
also to further this belief- we've seen that when "powers" enter humans, they can go crazy just like the doctor from season 2... well if he doesnt have a piece of the all, the powers would have
driven him nuts just like they did, however because witches have a piece of the all, they can control the active power given to them by the elders.... HOWEVER now that the all has switched sides and
presumably entered regular humans, taking formers witchs active powers along with it (look how the charmed ones powers entered prue- its safe to assume that the powers people now have once belonged
to other witches) people are able to control said powers without dying or going crazy.
plus it seems a little farfetched to believe that paige just so happened to be born with the same power needed to reconstitute the power of three- it would make sense however if she had a piece of
the all and the elders gave her the power needed to reconstitute the charmed ones

p4fan4ever(Monday, 10 September 2012 08:33)
@julie.... well like stated.. the all is a spiritual energy that runs through everything ... WITCHES AND (some) WARLOCKS however descend from neena... a HUMAN that infused herself with the all, I
believe that there are different species born into the world- leprechauns fairies, the FIRST ELDERS/ANGELS etc etc these species are born with the all already in them, and they are born WITH powers-
they are higher beings- humans were supposed to be a species without power but neena changed that and once she infused herself with the all she changed humanity and now a branch of mortals were born
with the all, they became magical and the elders decided to grant them powers and use them for the greater good... but i digress... now whether you want to say DEMONS are fallen angels or just born
as demons- either way i believe they were meant to naturally be born magical (they naturally had the all flowing through them) and are born with active powers... they are a different species...
think of it this way... people are born with eyes (the all)... some people are naturally born with blue eyes (demons who are born with the all and an active power, angels who are born with the all
and an active power.. fairies leprechauns etc etc) and other people are born with lets say brown eyes (certain people "witches" who inherit a piece of the all from neena but dont have an active
power) ... they have the eyes but are missing the color (the power)- so they are given blue contacts (by the elders) that was such a weird analogy so i hope it makes sense. haha
also dont forget- demons trade powers (we've seen it in season 4! and in the market place!)
I also think since neena was the first witch and essentially became immortal like after infusing herself with the all- she didnt necessarily receive a tangible power from the elders but was able to
actually channel the all itself into active powers- it would make sense- her and her mate were essentially walks "alls" she was pure power and energy- which could also explain why some powers are
able to be be taught in magic school- maybe some classes teach students how to focus their portion of the all or their magic energy to perform MINOR powers (such as glamouring or astral
projection)
or another theory regarding demons powers elders powers etc... maybe they channel their alls into an active power (like i theorized neena did) and what you saw was a portion of the all when demons
died in the wasteland HOWEVER.... if those "shiny" things we've seen that represent "powers" also represented "the all" how could demons just trade them, could portions of the all be that easily
distributed? active powers seem to be more tangible then that! if the all/active powers were one- then why would normal people go crazy when powers enter them... you could say well they cant handle
their portion of the all... witches have a different genetic makeup which is why they can handle the all/active powers... but neena was a regular human when she first infused herself with the all and
the all didnt kill her- also the all has clearly switched sides in this current arc.. if regular people had a different genetic makeup then witches, then when the all/powers entered humans they all
would have died/gone crazy... as i stated i think the all is separate from active powers and having a portion of the all first is what allows someone to handle and not be destroyed by an active
power!

p4fan4ever(Friday, 14 September 2012 11:30)
what part are you confused about?
#53
accacipi(Friday, 14 September 2012 14:26)
@p4fan4ever Thank you for the essay. I agree regarding the underworld and the upper regions, but I don't think all powers are given by the elders. They gave Melinda the power of orbing and that was
wrong as they recognized themselves.
#54
p4fan4ever(Friday, 14 September 2012 20:39)
@accacipi but dont forget when piper got her power of molecular combustion leo said "the elders wouldnt have given it to you if they didnt think you can handle it" so we see leo say himself the
elders gave the girls powers... plus if they were born with their power.. it would be too much of a coincidence in respect to the charmed world and continuity that paige just so happened to be born
with the same power of the sister that died
#55
p4fan4ever(Friday, 14 September 2012 20:52)
@accacipi and they gave melinda powers because leo passed along some of his DNA (which was whitelighter dna since that was technically the species he was) and because of that they were able to give
melinda her powers (remember kyle said leo is something more than human) and the reason why granting her that power was bad was because the elders were trying to make their own twice blessed super
power of three... it was unnatural... the granting of melinda her power was not bad because she still has it- but trying to make them into a super power of three was!
#56

#58
p4fan4ever(Sunday, 16 September 2012 19:41)
@julie- basically shes immortal now because she infused herself with a huge part of the all, more so than anyone or anything- she infused her self with so much of this spiritual energy, shes become
immortal
#59
Julie(Monday, 17 September 2012 14:59)
Well that explains it. Have you figured out yet P4 how demons get powers since their powers are not part of the all? I think the demons from Charmed kinda copied the ones from Buffy.

@p4fan4ever Good point!
#61
Julie(Thursday, 20 September 2012 10:55)
@ P4 I think with demons their powers seem to not only be a part of their bodies, but an extension of their very being, their "essence".
#62
p4fan4ever(Tuesday, 25 September 2012 23:39)
@julia- EXACTLY thats what i was trying to say- and speaking of essence its established that demons dont have souls- however we have seen demon "ghosts" (triad etc.) so i think those are demonic
essences- different than a soul- very basic, empty, evil etc.. a soul is something deeper where as an essence is just the basic fragments of a being- if that makes sense.. i have a whole theory
written on that ill publish one day!
#63
Julie(Tuesday, 02 October 2012 12:28)

Don't you think Alexi is a bit "older" than the last time? But I prefer her this way! I like the likeness of all four sisters (Phoebe is very pretty with this hair even though she is not very similar to Alyssa... maybe she is better on the other pages). I don't really like the colors ... in the page with Prue and Piper the sky is too "fake".
Jullie (Monday, 03 September 2012 11:13)
I figured Cole would refer them to Alexi for answers.
excalibur90 (Tuesday, 04 September 2012 08:18)
Yes alexi seems older than the last time... also i don't like pipers ''orange'' hair.

a synopsis plz?
JoshingAbout (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:13)
Detailed summary of the issue. MAJOR spoilers ahead.
*The issue starts with the preview pages
* Piper tells Prue that if she's thinking of leaving again that she might just blow her up. The crossbow she's using was made by Glynnis and it's been made so Prue can control it with her mind. Some more sisterly talk about Prue's absense and a GREAT likeness of Holly's smile. Piper has Prue practice her ability to control the Crossbow.
* FLASHBACK. Leo is sitting on the bonnet of a car with a dead girl in the driver's seat - an arrow sticking out of her heart. He's mourning over the death of his first charge, and Rennek, casually sat there, taunts him about it.
Leo protects a couple from an oncoming Darklighter arrow (somehow), and the most un-Rennek likeness (seriously he looks like 30 years older than usual) continues to taunt Leo into retaliating, but Leo is steadfast about being a pacifist.
* FLASHBACK. Leo stumbles upon Rennek manipulating dead bodies into performing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance. Rennek said he couldn't get any real Zombies but these bodies will have to do. Leo says he's insane - Rennek likes to think he's bored.
Gideon (the cameo from behind) is talking to Leo about his new charges (you can see The Manor in the background) and how since Rennek is gone Gideon thinks he'll be ready to take on these difficult charges.
* From the bushes it turns out that Rennek faked his death at the hands of Leo, hoping that Good will leave him alone. A voice says it will - Alexi is behind him. She says she's someone he'll befriend and then betray, but not for a long time.
Rennek doesn't care: he says he's done playing the Bad Boy and that he's earned his keep, but Alexi says evil won't let him go so easily. Rennek says he isn't a fan of Destiny (grammatical error in the dialogue on this page).
* FLASHBACK. Leo chained up in Rennek's dungeon with that creepy demon person with sowed up lips. Rennek says he's spent years researching the final piece of the puzzle: and it's locked up in Leo's subconscious in the collected knowledge of the Elders and the Avatars.
So he had to use the Grimoire to overpower the Empyreal Sword.
JoshingAbout (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:13)
Back to the regular Timeline:
* Piper and Prue playfully practice some more, with Prue noting that Piper is holding herself back. Piper lets loose and as Prue fires a bolt she freezes it, freezing Prue too but making sure her head remained unfrozen, much to Prue's annoyance.
* Leo, Phoebe and Paige return from Alexi's cave to tell Prue and Piper everything about what Rennek has done. (I'm assuming Alexi showed them in her mirror, hence the flashbacks).
* Leo explains that Earth is the middle ground that links Up There and the Underworld with the magic that flows through the dimensions, hence why Demons want to rule it so much, saying that if they control the Earth they can control the convergence point: aka The All.
The Elders remain Up There and the demons are trapped in the Underworld - and the Earth is alone with the All. While ending the fight between Good and Evil the world became totally messed up as it is today.
* Piper asks how he did it. Leo explains that he took control of the convergence point of the dimensions - where magic was the greatest before the creation of the Higher Realm ... the Nexus of the All.
* Inside a military vehicle, Phoebe asks why demons bother coming after The Charmed Ones if they want to rule the All - very few people knew of its location, one of them being Neena, and he unknowingly gained that knowledge as an Elder or Avatar.
* Darryl is trying to find the Nexus' location, but can't seem to find anything even with a magically enchanted satellite. The girls use their Charmed magic to empower the satellite with the ability to see the cloaked Nexus. What they see amazes them.
* Elise and Tyler are ready to help, with Tyler saying he's not running away again like he was forced to with The Source. The kids are safe with Victor and Henry, Coop and Darryl are in position, waiting for The Charmed Ones.
Phoebe says she's never felt power like it - in fact it's empowering her Levitation to the point where she can fly. Suddenly, Phoebe sees something coming out from the dome ... A bunch of weapon-clad Amazonion-looking people fly out of the dome. Trouble looks to be ahead ...
TO BE CONTINUED.
Henry (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:49)
Excalibur90 (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:52)
I can't wait to read it! Also what powers are used in this issue???
JoshingAbout (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 08:59)
@Henry - ha, I never realised that. Yeah I think they must be teleporting to the All's Nexus location.
I agree the way the powers were drawn was very, very boring. Issues 4,5 and 7 had my favourite Orbing effects. No issues since then have satisfied me on the Orbing department. I'm not sure if it's down to the colourist or the interior artist, but it could do with some improvement.
3 weeks for Issue 24! :D So excited!
Henry (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 10:00)
Alexi uses her mirror to show the flashbacks.
Prue uses a magic crossbow.
Piper blows up and freezes magic arrows, while she's training with Prue, and she freezes Prue along with them.
Leo (in a flasback) uses telekinesis (i think) to throw away one of Rennek's arrow, he orbs and uses healing touch (i think again)to try to save an innocent and to beat Rennek for good (or at least he thought so).
P4fan4ever (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 11:05)
I KNEW that's basically what was going to happen (with the all being involved/switching to humans etc.) it was the only route Paul could go with the introduction of the all and I'm happy he did because it felt very organic and made sense! I just hope in the next issue they end with prue closing the door
P4fan4ever (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 11:19)
I also couldn't really tell what powers Rennek/Leo were using in the final flashbacks also I think those warriors in the end were Valkyries ... Like stated above I think Rennek was using death touch... But how did Leo kill him (same question from a previous issue when we see those rays shooting from his hand)... Also I'm assuming that Rennek wasn't totally evil (he's doing this because he doesn't want the fight to continue anymore)
Henry (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 11:23)
Perhaps the love that is the basis of healing touch is lethal to Darklighter. Their powers are based on hatred ... might make sense.
Seerempath (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 11:24)
wow, this issue just wet my appetite for the finale. Love every panel of it.
Excalibur90 (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 11:47)
The issue was amazing! I liked that Piper manage to freeze Prue and their practice scenes were great. Really liked Gideon's cameo and Leo's flashbacks. 3 weeks!
JoshingAbout (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 12:07)
This issue actually made me sympathise with Rennek. He, like Neena, isn't a cardboard cutout villain. Rennek is tired of being the bad guy. He just wants to live without the eternal "us and them" battle of Good and Evil. The only reason he taunted Leo all those years was because that was his role as the bad guy. Like Neena he's taking control of his destiny and his life.
Ruditis, I love you. Please continue to write Charmed up to Season Infinity. kthnxbai.
Excalibur90 (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 12:16)
I didn't like very much that paul made Neena and Rennek look like "good" persons... :P
JoshingAbout (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 12:24)
Neena slaughtered anyone who got in her way and came close to killing her own kin. Rennek helped and we've seen him kill about a dozen people. These are not 'good' people at all :P They are 3 Dimensional and not just evil for the lolz. Their motives are for themselves. Neena and Rennek are definitely up there with Zankou on my list of "Best Charmed Villains".
llp (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 13:07)
Piper freze prue because prue now i a mortal and not a witch
Henry (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 13:08)
I love Neena and Rennek because they are complex characters. They are different from the usual demons that attack to kill the sisters or to take their powers. They work for a reason! And they are very bad ... But I wanted to see more blood!! We have not seen any murder committed by Hogan (except for Brent) and Rennek's victims were "censored" ... No blood ... No creepy scene (Well the remake of Thriller's scene was creepy, but it could be better). Maybe I'm weird but I'd like to see something darker, like in the first 4 seasons. And this issue could be!!
p2 (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 13:23)
I read a comment of JoshingAbout saying that Prue can control with her mind the crossbow i am so happy its like telekinesis!!!!!!!!!!
Henry (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 13:34)
It's not a new power! She just used the crossbow's power... Glynnis' weapons are magic now!
p2 (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 13:41)
I know that is not new power!!!!!!!!
Julie (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 15:39)
Kinda explains why Rennek joined Neena huh!!!!
charmedcomicfan (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 15:55)
I love how all ties together
Excalibur90 (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 16:01)
I don't think that Prue is mortal, still has magic inside her differently she couldn't use a magical weapon with or without her mind. I think its an ability like brewing potions. Humans cannot brew potions and wield magical weapons.
Yes i agree that they are complex characters but i felt sorry for Neena. and now with rennek the same! I know that they have motives but i would prefer to change him to more bad guy who wants to rule the word. this is m opinion :)
p2 (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 16:11)
@excalibur90
idont agree with uou because if you see the cover of issue 24 you will see henry and daryl o holdĪ magical weapons Henry and Daryl are mortal so????
JoshingAbout (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 16:30)
Well, technically they're magical now because of the shift in Magic because of The All going haywire.
However, I think that Prue is a bit of an enigma much like how Leo was. He could open the big doorway Up There and wield the Empyreal Sword despite not being a Whitelighter anymore. I think because of Prue's back-and-forth with Magic that she too isn't truly powerless despite the fact she stripped her magic, like how Leo was stripped of his but he still has a connection to Magic.
excalibur90 (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 16:31)
You have a point but prue was a charmed one i dont think that its too easy to lost her magic.
joshingAbout (Wednesday, 05 September 2012 17:22)
In issue 18 Prue drank a Power Stripping potion. This potion doesn't bind your magic, it removes it entirely, hence why the imbalance of power brought by Prue's arrival was fixed as the Power of Three was normalised. She no longer had powers and was separated from the Power of Three. However, much like when Cole had his powers stripped there was a void left behind.
When Rennek switched the magic of the world around, the Power of Three went into her entirely because she is the closest link to them and because of the aforementioned void in her. However, the Power of Three was not meant to manifest into one person, so using the Power of Three actually began to take a toll on Prue. She realised that if she overused the Power of Three it would eventually be too much for her, kill her and return itself to her sisters.
So yeah, Prue is powerless but is able to use a magical weapon thanks to someone else's magic. That's my thoughts on it anyway.
I think a regular mortal wouldn't be able to control a magical weapon even with Glynnis' help - Magic works in mysterious ways ...
Henry (Thursday, 06 September 2012 06:50)
What do you think about Alexi? Before she helps Rennek and then she tries to stop him. Why?
JoshingAbout (Thursday, 06 September 2012 07:23)
Yeah I'm not really understanding that either.
So, she meets Rennek way back before S1, tells him that he'll befriend and betray her. Then skip forward 10 years, she helps Cole find Prue as Patience in Salem, only to help Rennek force Paige to meet Prue with the Jewel of Orthonn (via mind-controlling Bailey), thus breaking down the balance of magic with the Power of 4. Then she's killed by Rennek and then helps the Charmed Ones undo Rennek's plan ... which she helped him fulfil?
Wouldn't it have been easier to simply not help him in the first place? I'm not sure what Ruditis was thinking with this.
Henry (Thursday, 06 September 2012 07:26)
It's exactly what I was thinking! I hope we have not finished with her!
Excalibur90 (Thursday, 06 September 2012 07:38)
@JoshingAbout i agree with you! i was reffering to P2user about prue and the other mortals. Im know that Prue doesn't have her powers but i dont think that she lost her magic.
p2 (Thursday, 06 September 2012 12:21)
@Excaibur90 yes i agree with you but i believe that she freeze because she isnt a charmed ones now only a witch!!
Henry (Thursday, 06 September 2012 17:50)
Good witches can't be frozen... Not only the Charmed One, but ALL good witches... Do you remember Aviva? So if Piper can freeze Prue, she isn't a witch! I think Prue/Patience is a mortal now... Like JoshingAbout said, she was stripped of all her magic. But who knows, there are always Patience's abilities...
accacipi (Friday, 07 September 2012 06:04)
@JoshingAbout Thank you for the summary.
I'm confused. Is the All's magic concentrated in the Higher Realm, the Nexus or both? And the Higher Realm, the Upper Regions, the Underworld and our universe are different dimensions?
I agree about Rennek's character development.
The people at the end sound like Valkyries, but those can't fly, can they?
Dori (Friday, 07 September 2012 14:33)
Actually magical witches cannot be frozen, but witch practioners can, like that witch that was annoying piper and pheobe in season 2, when we first meet Bane and Barbas tries again to kill 13 unmarried witches.
Prue isn't magical, she could just be a practioner.
Henry (Friday, 07 September 2012 17:17)
Yes, of course. But in issue 9 it's said that witch practitioners are born in that way... I don't know if a magical witch becomes a practitioner, when she is stripped of her power. But it would be cool to see what exactly a witch practitioner can do!
TheFanatic (Friday, 07 September 2012 20:19)
I loved the scenes between Piper and Prue. So great.
TheFanatic (Friday, 07 September 2012 20:22)
the issue was great. "space probe? Seriously?"
p4fan4ever (Friday, 07 September 2012 22:52)
@accacipi I wondered that myself... the underworld as stated by the source book (issue 0) is a realm beneath the earth... we also saw neena and hogan actually traveling down into it... so id say its safe to say that the underworld is here in the physical plane with use... in season3 magic hour it's stated that because of the eclipse the elders couldn't look down onto earth just like we couldnt look up meaning the upper regions have to be higher or above earth/ the sun- plus if the elders view earth and all its happenings from the upper regions id assume that it's on a higher plane of existence - one where elders/angels live and that connects to the afterlife as seen in the comics- its not simply a realm in the sky- its on a whole nother plane that allows the elders to view us!- i have a whole essay written on the many planes/realms in charmed- ill post it soon!
p4fan4ever (Friday, 07 September 2012 23:01)
i also think that THE ALL is what allows witches to USE powers, but is not their actual powers- those are given by the elders.... think of the all as the battery power to activate the power- leo said that some mortals are born with enough of the all to channel into an active power- by that i think he means channel it to activate/control a power
if the inherent pieces of the all were the powers themselves then when the elders took phoebes powers away in season 6 she wouldnt have been able to cast spells of make potions- but that wasnt the case- she still maintained that ability, just her active powers were stripped, meaning an active power has to be separate from the part of a witch that allows her to cast spells make potions, aka an active power must be separate from that witches portion of the all...
also to further this belief- we've seen that when "powers" enter humans, they can go crazy just like the doctor from season 2... well if he doesnt have a piece of the all, the powers would have driven him nuts just like they did, however because witches have a piece of the all, they can control the active power given to them by the elders.... HOWEVER now that the all has switched sides and presumably entered regular humans, taking formers witchs active powers along with it (look how the charmed ones powers entered prue- its safe to assume that the powers people now have once belonged to other witches) people are able to control said powers without dying or going crazy.
plus it seems a little farfetched to believe that paige just so happened to be born with the same power needed to reconstitute the power of three- it would make sense however if she had a piece of the all and the elders gave her the power needed to reconstitute the charmed ones
Nancy! (Sunday, 09 September 2012 18:43)
i can't wait for issue 24!!!!!!!!!
Julie (Sunday, 09 September 2012 19:08)
Nice theory P4 but what about the powers that Cole stole from vanquished demons from the wasteland when he was mortalthat eventually drove him insane?

p4fan4ever (Monday, 10 September 2012 08:33)
@julie.... well like stated.. the all is a spiritual energy that runs through everything ... WITCHES AND (some) WARLOCKS however descend from neena... a HUMAN that infused herself with the all, I believe that there are different species born into the world- leprechauns fairies, the FIRST ELDERS/ANGELS etc etc these species are born with the all already in them, and they are born WITH powers- they are higher beings- humans were supposed to be a species without power but neena changed that and once she infused herself with the all she changed humanity and now a branch of mortals were born with the all, they became magical and the elders decided to grant them powers and use them for the greater good... but i digress... now whether you want to say DEMONS are fallen angels or just born as demons- either way i believe they were meant to naturally be born magical (they naturally had the all flowing through them) and are born with active powers... they are a different species...
think of it this way... people are born with eyes (the all)... some people are naturally born with blue eyes (demons who are born with the all and an active power, angels who are born with the all and an active power.. fairies leprechauns etc etc) and other people are born with lets say brown eyes (certain people "witches" who inherit a piece of the all from neena but dont have an active power) ... they have the eyes but are missing the color (the power)- so they are given blue contacts (by the elders) that was such a weird analogy so i hope it makes sense. haha
also dont forget- demons trade powers (we've seen it in season 4! and in the market place!)
I also think since neena was the first witch and essentially became immortal like after infusing herself with the all- she didnt necessarily receive a tangible power from the elders but was able to actually channel the all itself into active powers- it would make sense- her and her mate were essentially walks "alls" she was pure power and energy- which could also explain why some powers are able to be be taught in magic school- maybe some classes teach students how to focus their portion of the all or their magic energy to perform MINOR powers (such as glamouring or astral projection)
or another theory regarding demons powers elders powers etc... maybe they channel their alls into an active power (like i theorized neena did) and what you saw was a portion of the all when demons died in the wasteland HOWEVER.... if those "shiny" things we've seen that represent "powers" also represented "the all" how could demons just trade them, could portions of the all be that easily distributed? active powers seem to be more tangible then that! if the all/active powers were one- then why would normal people go crazy when powers enter them... you could say well they cant handle their portion of the all... witches have a different genetic makeup which is why they can handle the all/active powers... but neena was a regular human when she first infused herself with the all and the all didnt kill her- also the all has clearly switched sides in this current arc.. if regular people had a different genetic makeup then witches, then when the all/powers entered humans they all would have died/gone crazy... as i stated i think the all is separate from active powers and having a portion of the all first is what allows someone to handle and not be destroyed by an active power!
Julie (Thursday, 13 September 2012 15:40)
I'm still confused P4
p4fan4ever (Friday, 14 September 2012 11:30)
what part are you confused about?
accacipi (Friday, 14 September 2012 14:26)
@p4fan4ever Thank you for the essay. I agree regarding the underworld and the upper regions, but I don't think all powers are given by the elders. They gave Melinda the power of orbing and that was wrong as they recognized themselves.
p4fan4ever (Friday, 14 September 2012 20:39)
@accacipi but dont forget when piper got her power of molecular combustion leo said "the elders wouldnt have given it to you if they didnt think you can handle it" so we see leo say himself the elders gave the girls powers... plus if they were born with their power.. it would be too much of a coincidence in respect to the charmed world and continuity that paige just so happened to be born with the same power of the sister that died
p4fan4ever (Friday, 14 September 2012 20:52)
@accacipi and they gave melinda powers because leo passed along some of his DNA (which was whitelighter dna since that was technically the species he was) and because of that they were able to give melinda her powers (remember kyle said leo is something more than human) and the reason why granting her that power was bad was because the elders were trying to make their own twice blessed super power of three... it was unnatural... the granting of melinda her power was not bad because she still has it- but trying to make them into a super power of three was!
Julie (Sunday, 16 September 2012 17:46)
Well of course hes was whiteligher way longer than he was human.
Julie (Sunday, 16 September 2012 18:15)
I get it now P4 But I just dont get how Neena is over several thusand years old and is still living how an she be immortal.
p4fan4ever (Sunday, 16 September 2012 19:41)
@julie- basically shes immortal now because she infused herself with a huge part of the all, more so than anyone or anything- she infused her self with so much of this spiritual energy, shes become immortal
Julie (Monday, 17 September 2012 14:59)
Well that explains it. Have you figured out yet P4 how demons get powers since their powers are not part of the all? I think the demons from Charmed kinda copied the ones from Buffy.
accacipi (Tuesday, 18 September 2012 14:32)
@p4fan4ever Good point!
Julie (Thursday, 20 September 2012 10:55)
@ P4 I think with demons their powers seem to not only be a part of their bodies, but an extension of their very being, their "essence".
p4fan4ever (Tuesday, 25 September 2012 23:39)
@julia- EXACTLY thats what i was trying to say- and speaking of essence its established that demons dont have souls- however we have seen demon "ghosts" (triad etc.) so i think those are demonic essences- different than a soul- very basic, empty, evil etc.. a soul is something deeper where as an essence is just the basic fragments of a being- if that makes sense.. i have a whole theory written on that ill publish one day!
Julie (Tuesday, 02 October 2012 12:28)
@P4 Soul is a synonym for Spirit. Essence is just another name for sprit. Their all the same.
